Advisory BoardThe Advisory Board is exactly that, a source of advice to successive organisers. It has no executive powers and no formal constitution. In recent years, the Advisory Board has established a core membership which contains the organisers of all past conferences, together with the Chairs of the three Pan-National Societies, APSCOM, ESCOM, and SMPC (link). At a recent meeting of the Advisory Board (Keele, 2000), discussions were held regarding extending membership of the advisory board to include editors of key international journals in the field, such as Music Perception, Musicae Scientiae, and Psychology of Music. This is because these journals are such key potential outlets for research first reported at an ICMPC. All of these journals have published special thematic issues based on specialist symposia organised for ICMPC. The most important actions that the Advisory Board takes are (1) the production and updating of guidelines for conference organisers (link), and (2) the asessment of bids from potential future conference organisers in the light of these guidelines. The Organiser of a given ICMPC issues the call for bids for the next but one ICMPC during the conference, and sets a closing date for bids, normally 1st January of the following year. It is his or her responsibility as retiring organiser to circulate the bids to members of the Advisory Board and convene the discussions leading to a decision. The final responsbility of the Advisory Board is the content and organisation of the ICMPC web-site. The Advisory Board is responsible for appointing an ICMPC Web-Master. The current (and founder) web-master is Matthew Lavy (webmaster@icmpc.org) to whom all correspondence about this site should be addressed. Current Membership
